This is a brilliantly designed dryer vent. It keeps out the cold and the small animals. It does need cleaning a couple of times a year, but the small effort is worth it for the protection it provides. After having one for over 20 years, the plastic cover finally cracked as I was taking it off to clean on a cold day (10F), which was not the best thing to do. At least I could order a replacement cover easily. I have been totally satisfied with this vent. It is without peer and I recommend it without reservation.

I have had a heartland dryer vent for at least 15 years.  Somehow the cap disappeared.  And the main body was getting a little cracked so I order a package that included everything except the bottom section that connects to the dryer vent coming through the wall.
Went to replace the new part only to find out that the new part is slightly smaller than the original so it wouldn't slip over the bottom elbow.  I ended up gluing the pieces together.  Hoping that will work for now.
Otherwise I've been very happy with the product.  Suggestion is to buy and replace the whole unit.

This is the best dryer vent I have seen. I liked it so much on my first house that it became part of the punch list for moving into my second house. The internal shuttle valve blows upwards to open, and gravity firmly closes the valve when the dryer turns off. Dryer lint seems to blow right through reducing the need for cleaning. The installers in the first video above (from Power House Alliant Energy) have inadvertently flipped the internal shuttle valve upside down.  The open end of the cup shaped shuttle needs to point downwards. Finally, the exterior of the vent should be spray painted to match the house. Otherwise, UV sunlight will crack the upper cover after about 10 years. If you like the creamy natural color, at least spray it with a UV-resistant clear coat. I have been using this vent for more than 20 years with no complaints.

I used to have problems with my vent sticking open and pests getting into my home due to the lint holding the flap open, until I found this Dryer Vent. Can’t wait to see how well it works during our harsh  winters!

We moved to the country 20+ years ago. Our laundry room - on the west side of the house (where the wind often comes from) was frequently 20 degrees colder than the rest of the house in the winter.  We found this product in a mail-order catalog, ordered it, and made the laundry room comfortable year-round.  The lid broke once or twice (it weathered- we didn't paint it, which would have probably protected it), so we bought just a replacement lid thru this company - without having to buy the whole entire product again.  The vent needs to be cleaned out about 4 times a year to keep the air flowing well, but this product really delivers! We highly recommend it.
